Aim of the project:
The Tanzanian German Programme to Support Health (TGPSH) is a bilateral development cooperation programme between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Federal Republic of Germany. TGPSH was launched in 2003 and supports Tanzania's Health Sector Reform in a Sector Wide Approach (SWAp). To implement this programme GIZ works closely with a range of Tanzanian governmental and non-governmental institutions and assist the government’s health sector. The GIZ team provides policy, strategy and technical advice to relevant public and private sector institutions and offers tailor made capacity development. Objective: Important preconditions for equal and sustainable access to quality health services are in place. Using a multi-level approach (national, regional and district), we have contributed to: enhanced management capacities in health financing, quality improvement in the health system and cooperation with the private sector and civil society organizations at national level and also at regional and district levels within the four supported regions of Lindi, Mbeya, Tanga and Mtwara. The GIZ Team offers services to its partners in five key areas of health systems strengthening: •Social Health Protection •Decentralised Health Governance •Quality Health Services (Focus Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights) •Cooperation with the Private Sector •Civil Society Organizations.
